Here at Age Concern Coventry we listened when older people told us how frustrating it can be when you can’t get the things done you used to do. Hearing your concerns we decided to set up the Age Concern Helping Hand Service, a service for people over 50 who need a little help doing the jobs they can no longer manage themselves.

The Age Concern Coventry Helping Hand Service can help with regular jobs such as cleaning, shopping, housework and getting out and about. You may need someone to do a job for you or you may want to do a job your self and just need a little help with part of it. Our Home assistants are trustworthy, friendly, flexible and reliable and will lend you a hand when you need it.

The Helping Hand Service can assist you to undertake most things including:

• General cleaning such as vacuuming carpets, changing the bed, dusting, cleaning the bathroom and kitchen.
• Laundry and ironing
• Irregular housework tasks such as helping to clear out a cupboard and washing net curtains,
• Going shopping for you or taking you out shopping to the shops you choose.
• Getting out and about, for example accompanying you to the post office, doctor’s visits, hospital visits and other appointments or helping you to visit and tend the grave of a lost loved one.
• Other tasks such as helping you cook a meal, walking the dog and helping with correspondence.

Costing £11.80 an hour, the Age Concern Coventry Helping Hand Service will provide you with a flexible way to carry on living the way you choose to live. Age Concern Coventry will not make a profit from charging for this service, but we do need to cover the full costs of providing a good quality service. When you join Helping Hand you will also be offered a free service which can help ensure that you are receiving all the state benefits that you are entitled to.

The Helping Hand Service operates between 9am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday.in all areas of Coventry.

Age Concern Coventry Helping Hand Service does not undertake any Personal Care tasks such as dressing, going to the toilet or assisting with medication and you do need to be at home when the Home Assistant comes.
