Our continuing campaigning has brought about significant improvements for those of us in later life. At both local and national level our continuing campaigning has brought about significant improvements for those of in later life.

During the last year all of the following campaigns have been featured on this website at one time or another and you have had a part to play in each of their successes, thank you.

  • Our More money in your pocket campaign helped us claim over £100 million in benefits that would otherwise not have been claimed.

  • We successfully campaigned for the Warm Front programme, which pays for insulation and heating improvements, to be raised from £2,700 to £3,500, or to £6,000 if oil fired central heating is involved.
  • All of the political parties have accepted that urgent care reform is needed due to us demanding better quality care.

  • Over 80% of all NHS trusts in England have contacted Age UK to find out more about our Hungry to be heard campaign to end the malnourishment of older people in hospital. Of these, 55% have made changes to ensure we get the food and help we need at hospital mealtimes.

  • Thousands of us supported the Just equal treatment campaign in 2009. We wrote to our MPs asking them to support and strengthen the equality bill.

  • This year we are continuing to campaign to help people enjoy a better later life. There is still much more to be done. Please click here to find out more about previous and current campaigns and how you can help us continue to make a difference.
